OUR TRIP - part 3 (St. Malo and Mt. Saint Michel)

We took four short weekend trips outside of Paris.

First we visited St. Malo and Mt. Saint Michel. These are in the region of Normandy, on the north west coast. First, we stayed in Saint Malo just for a few hours on our way out to Pontorson to see the Abby of Mont St. Michel. It is a beautiful city where the medieval ramparts are still intact.

Oh, and then we stopped for lunch in another quaint village called Dol-en-Bretagne.

Finally, The Abby of Mont Saint Michel was one of our FAVORITE things. The original Abby was built over a thousand years ago and the village was slowly built up around the bottom. During high tide, it is totally surrounded by water! Such a cool place.
The monastery is still in use today.
